Murano<\/strong>
\nMurano (Muran<\/i> in Venetian<\/a>) is a town in the Venetian Lagoon<\/a>, located north-east of Venice<\/a> and consisting of seven islands.
\nThe islands on which Murano stands are located along the Marani canal and are divided by canals and streams and connected by bridges; their territory is completely urbanised, except for Sacca San Mattia, which is still undergoing reclamation. Two islands are artificial: Sacca Serenella and Sacca San Mattia. The centre is known worldwide for its centuries-old craft of producing Murano glass<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Burano:<\/strong>
\nBurano (Bur\u00e0n<\/i> in Venetian<\/a>) is part of the municipality of Venice<\/a>, specifically the municipality of Venice-Murano-Burano<\/a>. It is connected by a bridge to the island of Mazzorbo<\/a>. The town is known for its typical brightly coloured houses and the centuries-old craft of Burano lace-making<\/a>. Its gastronomic traditions are also notable; typical desserts include bussolai<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Torcello:<\/strong>
\nTorcello (Torce\u0142o<\/i> in Venetian dialect<\/a>) is an island in the northern Venetian Lagoon<\/a>. It was one of the oldest and most prosperous settlements in the lagoon until its decline following the rise of nearby Venice<\/a> and changing environmental conditions. Today the island has just eleven residents, but its priceless archaeological heritage makes it a popular tourist destination.<\/p>\n

Malamocco:<\/strong>
\nMalamocco is one of the oldest settlements in the Venetian Lagoon<\/a>, with roots dating back to Roman times<\/a>. At that time it served as the port of Padua<\/a>, directly connected via the mouth of the Medoacus Maior<\/i><\/a> (from which the name originates), now known as the Brenta<\/a>. The town was likely also easily accessible from other important centres such as Ravenna<\/a>, Altino<\/a> and Aquileia<\/a> thanks to the Via Popilia<\/a> route.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
